About

Global Brigades

Global Brigades is an international non-profit that empowers communities in Nicaragua, Panama, Ghana, and Honduras to meet their health and economic goals through university volunteers and local teams. Students participate in 5-9 day skill-based service trips, called brigades, to address health and development challenges in under-served communities. Global Brigades offers brigades in eight fields: medical, public health, water, human rights, business, environmental, and dental. Student brigades are just a small part of Global Brigades’ Holistic Model  that integrates in-country teams and community partnerships to ensure sustainability and promote the eventual transition out of the community.

Global Brigades at WKU

Global Brigades at WKU established its first medical chapter in 2016. As a chapter of Global Brigades, we plan and complete at least one brigade a year to either Nicaragua or Panama. These brigades provide Global Brigades with the resources they need to achieve their goals within the communities and provides students with valuable international and service related experiences. Learn more about our brigades and how to volunteer here. As we grow as a chapter, Global Brigades at WKU is striving to take the lessons that we learn abroad and apply them right here in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Check out our Upcoming Events to learn how to get involved. If you are interested in forming a partnership with our chapter or have any questions about who we are as an organization please do not hesitate to contact us.
